Sql Server 2005 Data partition

Posted by D#E on April 30, 2008

Last week I got assignment to use data partition on Sql Server.

This entry is about setting the data partition and how to do the sliding window scenario.

Since the purpose is just as a reminder for me to do it next time. I won’t put much explanation in this one

How to set the database for data partition

  • make a file group
  • add a file into file group
  • make partition function
  • make a partition scheme
  • make a partition table based on the definition scheme

alter database [DBNAME] add filegroup [FGNAME]

alter database [DBNAME]
add file
(
name = ….. ,
filename = ‘C:\…\… .ndf’,
size = … ,
maxsize = … , //undefined would be set boundless limit
filegrowth = …//undefined would be autodefined as 1Mb
)
to filegroup [FGNAME]

create partition function [name] (datetime) as range right for values
(‘…’,'…’)

create partition scheme [schemename] as partition [functionname] to
(FGNAME, …. , …., [PRIMARY])

create table [TBLNAME]
(
…..
dateofsales datetime
….
) on schemename (dateofsales)

a memo for partition function

- right (a,b,c)

value < a

a <= value < b

b <= value < c

c <= value

- left (a,b,c)

value <= a

a < value <= b

b < value <= c

c < value

Sliding window scenario

switch

alter table [T1] switch partition [x] to [T2] partition [y]

merge

alter partition function [functionname] () merge range (‘yyyy/mm/dd’)

split

alter partition scheme [schemename] next used [FG1];
go
alter partition function [functioname] () split range (‘yyyy/mm/dd’)

note : the merge’s range is the old value, the split’s range is new value

Gunpla Expo in nagoya parco 2008

Posted by D#E on April 28, 2008

Yesterday I went to see the gunpla expo in nagoya. To my surprise the standard stuff they sell here is in regular price. I mean you could buy the stuff in other shop much much way cheaper. The only things people wanted to go here is just to watch around and or buy some event limited stuff. There is no merit whatsoever to buy the standard stuff here since it will be cheaper in other stores.

here are some pictures (I haven’t got all of the pictures, so I might gonna update this again somewhere in the future)

S.I.C vol 36 Garren and Chalice

Posted by D#E on April 28, 2008

Intro:

New to this Blog. This is the first entry of me displaying my toys. Combine the toys (mostly plastic models) that I bought in Indonesia, I have at least a dozen of them.

Background before buying S.I.C vol 36 :

The first time I knew this toys is when I saw it in one of the hobby shop in mizonokuchi area. I think it’s somewhere between july – august 2007.

at december 2007, I decided that I want to buy this S.I.C but disappointed to know that it has been discontinued and I couldn’t find it again in many hobby shop that I went (I still could buy it on the internet if I wanted though)

april 2008, when visiting a hobby shop in OSU area, I found this beauty package sitting in a corner and displayed facing on the side (not get much attention). It’s only one and it’s facing  on the side but still somehow it attracted me and I found it. so this time I bought it.

Pictures

Garren : a cocky character from the series because he is the first successful kamen rider test subject on blade series. will do and sacrifice everything in order to achieve his goal.

Chalice : another cocky character (I think that’s whey the made him onto the same package with garren, a double cocky character ^^). he is the only kamen rider in the blade series which is not human. IMHO he is the strongest between all of them. his true form is joker form (the green ugly monster in the picture above)

Pro

  • you get 3 form to play in 1 package (1 garren, 1 chalice, 1 joker). chalice is changeable to his joker form.

Con

  • garren’s weapon looked like a hair dryer rather than gun
  • this is my first S.I.C so I don’t know if all S.I.C has the problem in the hand to grip their weapon

another busy weekend

Posted by D#E on April 27, 2008

26 and 27 april (saturday and sunday).

this is another busy weekend for me.

saturday, 26 april :

I supposed to participate in athletic meet of the company in morning, but due to the rain it was cancelled. So I decided  to kill my time in the morning to take picture of my new toy SIC vol 36 (I’m gonna post about that in another entry). In afternoon I went to nagoya hanging around and actually experience the internet cafe in japan for the first time. The time I spent in nagoya eventually leave me 2 choices. Either I run to the station to catch the last train, or stay a night in nagoya. I choose the latter one. It’s lucky I have friends that I can stay with in nagoya (this is not the first time I stay over in nagoya).

sunday, 27 april:

I have a plan to go to nagoya gunpla (gundam plastic model) expo with my friends. I didn’t plan to stay in nagoya in saturday, so I need to rearrange the appointment with my friends. We’re supposed to meet in okazaki station but I’m already in nagoya so I changed the plan to meet them in nagoya station. I invite 1 japanese friends and 1 hungarian friends (which invite another hungarian man) to go accompany me to the expo. About the expo, I will post in in another entry after I got all the picture from them.

after the expo and eating lunch together in korean restaurant. We went to nagoya castle (again, about my visit to nagoya castle this time will have another entry).

after that, go to book store, cut my hair in barber shop, and I go to hobby shop again to see whether the toy that I want has come out yet. It turned out hasn’t come out yet. and finally go home to my dormitory.

Finally renewed my visa

Posted by D#E on April 24, 2008

I have renewed my visa today. I took a day off today to take care of it. It took longer than I think it would, when I get I took the queue number, I need to wait for about 25 people before my turn. Well here is the procedure to renew a staying permit visa in japan:

1st procedure

  • come to immigration office with passport and alien card and show it to them, they will give you a hagaki (post card)
  • get some queue number, while waiting to be called, fill in the hagaki that you get
  • give the hagaki to the person that call your number
  • wait until the hagaki sent to your place (in my case it took approximately 1 week)

2nd procedure

  • again go with passport and the hagaki that you get to the immigration office
  • take the queue number, this time someone will give you a form that you need to fill and put a stamp on it
  • buy a stamp (it should be near the immigration office) the price for the renew staying permit is 4000 yen. fill in the paper that you get and put the stamp on the paper
  • wait for your number to be called and give the paper to the one who call your number, this time he/she will tell you to go to Shiyakusho (ward office) within 14 days

3rd procedure

  • take your passport again (this time the passport have a new visa attached) along with the alien card to the shiyakusho
  • the shiyakusho will stamp a new mark behind your alien card and it’s finish

at least now I can stay in japan until 2011. My staying permit got renew for another 3 years.

misc :

didn’t have anything to do with visa, but today I also bought a present gift for my japanese friend, he said to me that last week was his birthday. this is the first time I buy a present birthday gift for a japanese.

and here is the food that I ate today when I’m eating outside

ga mau jadi orang pelit lagi

Posted by D#E on April 23, 2008

Disini saya ceritakan pengalaman saya dimana sangat mengubah pandangan saya tentang hidup.
